KatzDay is a real estate and business law firm in Gambrills, Maryland, between Annapolis and Baltimore. We provide real estate counsel for builders, developers, investors and owners in Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia and across the Mid-Atlantic.
We have been the client
Six of our nine attorneys have worked in-house. Ryan Day was vice president and general counsel of a commercial brokerage, investment and development company, where David Katz also practiced; David earlier served as associate general counsel to a publicly traded savings bank. Douglas Irvin spent more than four years as regional counsel inside a Fortune 500 homebuilder, covering six states and the District of Columbia, and Ali Wali was in-house counsel to another national homebuilder. Matt Tucker was general counsel to a vacation property asset manager. Zaheer Abbas handled charging-infrastructure leasing in-house for an automotive manufacturer.
Between them they have carried land budgets, approval calendars and underwriting deadlines, and have had to live with documents after closing rather than after signing. It is the reason our diligence is aimed at the things that become cost, and our contracts are aimed at the terms that get tested.
How a matter is staffed
A partner runs your file and stays on it. For a land acquisition that typically means one partner and one associate, with a paralegal handling title, survey and closing coordination.
