Douglas M. Irvin advises homebuilders and developers on land acquisition and development and on common interest development law.
Doug counsels declarants and builders on the structure, documentation, operation and sale of master-planned communities, condominiums, homeowners associations and residential, retail, office and mixed-use associations. He joined KatzDay as a Partner in 2025 after more than four years as Associate Region Counsel for a Fortune 500 homebuilder, supporting operations across six states and Washington, DC. That role focused on acquiring and developing raw land and finished lots for residential construction.
Doug earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Baltimore School of Law and his B.A. in English from the University of Virginia. Doug is admitted to practice in Maryland.
Representative Matters
• Represented a national homebuilder on the declaration and community pier covenants for a waterfront community in Baltimore County, Maryland.
• Represented a national homebuilder on governing documents for a new property owners’ association in Virginia.
• Represented a national homebuilder in preparing disclosure and sales documents for two adjoining community associations in Loudoun County, Virginia.
• Advised a regional developer evaluating the conversion of a Maryland rental apartment community to a for-sale condominium, including the statutory conversion timetable and tenants’ rights of first refusal.
